"As a first time traveller I was nervous about travelling half way around the world to a village in rural Africa, however, once I arrived in Uganda my nerves were soon settled.
Since then I have completed many a travelling experience and I still maintain that Uganda is the most welcoming and fun country to work and live in. The village itself was beautiful and learning to live in a cultural exchange has been the most challenging but rewarding experience of my life! "

                          Fact File - Project

                          • BVDA works with Little Big Africa (LBA), a small Community-Orientated Organisation based in the town of Mbale. Volunteer projects take place in villages in the nearby Manafwa district in Eastern Uganda.
                          • The volunteers receive one week’s training at the start of the project to equip them with basic knowledge to work successfully in the community.
                          • The project consists of the construction of water tanks and fuel efficent stoves as well as education in both the village school and wider community.
                          • Last year, volunteers constructed a water tank in the local primary school, and also gave informal lessons to the children on health and sanitation issues
                          • Volunteers live with their group in a house provided for them by the community
                          • Each year BVDA sends two groups of 6
